Redirect User


Action Form allows you to redirect the user to a specified location after the user submits the form. This action requires that you specify a redirect location. You can redirect the user to a URL, another page, file or stay on the current page.

Open Redirect User Action

  1. On the Submit Actions (Step 3: Resource/Action) page, click on the right arrow next to the Where should the user redirect to after successful submit? action, identified with the blue arrow on Figure 1. The redirect user window will open.

Redirect Options

The redirect user action provides a list of four options for redirecting the user. It allows you to redirect the user to a specific URL, another page in the portal, a file in the portal or keep the user on the current page. Figure 2 displays the redirect options for this action.

  • URL
    This option redirects the user to an external link after the user submits the form.

  • File on this Portal
    This option redirects the user to a file within the portal after the user submits the form.

  • Keep on Current Page
    This option keeps the user on the current page after the user submits the form.

  • Page on this Portal
    This option redirects the user to another page in the portal after the user submits the form.

URL Redirect

The URL option allows you specify a URL using the list of server ports provided in the drop down menu, identified with the green arrow on Figure 3. The text field next to the list of server ports, is used to enter the URL address.

To specify a URL as the redirect location follow the steps below.
  1. Select URL from the first drop down menu.

  2. Then select the server port for your URL from the drop down menu next to the URL drop down menu.

    • The server ports are http://, https://, ftp:// and other.

  3. Then enter the URL address in the text field next to the server protocol drop down menu. This field also accepts form tokens, for example [FirstName].

  4. When you are done close the window with the right arrow next to the action question.

  5. Then click on the Save button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

Portal Page Redirect

The Page on this Portal option, identified with the blue arrow on Figure 4, allows you to specify a page to redirect the user. This option allows you to select from a list of pages in the portal. The pages are listed in the drop down menu, identified with the green arrow on Figure 4. It is next to the Page on this Portal drop down menu.

To specify a Portal page as the redirect location follow the steps below.
  1. Select Page on this Portal from the first drop down menu.

  2. Then select a portal page from the drop down menu next to the Page on this portal option.

  3. When you are done close the window with the right arrow used to open the action.

  4. Then click on the Save button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

Portal File Redirect

The File on this Portal option, identified with the green arrow on Figure 5, allows you to specify a file in the portal to redirect the user. This option allows you to specify a template file or an xml file as the redirect file. You can use the Force Download option to download the selected file. The redirect files are identified with the blue arrow on Figure 5 and the Force Download option is identified with the green arrow on Figure 6.

To specify a Portal file as the redirect location follow the steps below.
  1. Select File on this Portal from the first drop down box, identified with the green arrow in Figure 5.

  2. Then select Templates/Default.page.template or content.ActionForm.OwnersTenantsSigupHere.xml from the drop down menu next to the File on this Portal option.

  3. If you want to force download the selected file, select the Force Download check box.

  4. When you are done click the right arrow next to the action question to close the window.

  5. Then click on the Save button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

Keep on Current Page

The Keep on Current Page option allows you to keep the user on the current page after the form is submitted.

To specify a Portal file as the redirect location follow the steps below.

  1. Select Keep on Current Page from the drop down box, identified with the green arrow in Figure 7.

  2. When you are done click on the right arrow next to the action question to close the window.

  3. Then click on the Save button at the bottom of the page to save changes.
